Bameyan Landscape

 Bamyan is known for its beautiful landscapes. It is where, nearly 20 years ago (March 2001) the Taliban destroyed two ancient statues of Buddha, which had been the largest in the world. The region of central Bamyan province – which includes one of Afghanistan’s most beautiful and fascinating landscapes, which the main Valley – has been declared a protected area.

The Shah Foladi Valley, which spans more than 700 square kilometers and is crowned by the 5,050 meter Shah Foladi peak, is located near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bamyan city.
