Women fight against the Taliban’s Obscurantism
Food, Career,
Freedom/Education
After the fall of the former government and the reoccupation of Kabul by the Taliban, the brave women and girls of Afghanistan have become the symbol of resistance and freedom. Women activists in various cities, including Kabul, have repeatedly protested and bravely stood up against the tyrannical Taliban regime to petition for women's rights and human rights. These women, who for the past 20 years have been a symbol of progress and change in the country, are now a symbol of the struggle and are fighting against the strict policies of the Taliban.
After two decades of
major social change in the country, women are becoming more vulnerable than
ever and are being marginalized every day. The Taliban stripped women of their
right to education and employment after regaining power. These discriminatory
policies of the Taliban caused women to take to the streets and protest against
them.
Bread, work, freedom or education was the latest slogan of the
protesting women, who took to the streets of Kabul on Saturday, chanting
slogans against the ruling group. Bread, work, freedom, is one of the most
influential slogans used by some women to achieve their rights.
When Afghanistan fell in to the hand of Taliban regime and with
the reoccupation of Kabul by the Taliban, these three words have completely
disappeared in the society. The people are facing hunger, lack of work,
deprivation of social freedoms and are going through difficult times. Bread,
work, freedom is not only the desire of women but also the desire of all men.
Men, especially young people, are in the similar situation and are going
through difficult times of unemployment.
Lack of work has affected not only women but also men on a large
scale, and this problem threatens people's lives. Unemployment and hunger have
forced people to sell their home furniture, body organs, and even their family
members. The latest video, which is being shared on social media, shows women
in Badghis Province offering their children for sale.
On the other hand, the brave women of the country in a civil
demonstration raise the slogan of bread, work, and freedom when the ruling
group has no interest in the concept of civilization and has resorted to
violence, war, lawlessness and terror. In fact, this slogan is presented
against the military and religious oppression, mono-ethnic and mono-gender, a
group of religious extremists who have taken away all civil and social freedoms
of the people throughout Afghanistan. Education, which is the first human right
of women, has been taken away from them and millions of women and girls have
been deprived of access to knowledge. Also, labor and other sectors are among
the most basic rights of the people, especially women, which have been taken
away from them at various levels.
In addition, in the last four months, freedom has completely
disappeared from the country, and the people, especially women have been completely
deprived of this human right. Not only women are deprived of social freedom,
but even men are in a similar situation. Men and women do not have the right to
choose, and they do not even have the freedom to dress, and they are forced to
follow the orders of a group of ignorant people. Many men have been punished in
the field court many times for their appearance cover and their lifestyle.
Also, young people without beards and with curly hair have been horribly beaten
many times.
Access to education is restricted to all, especially women, and
education has lost its true meaning with the Taliban occupying the country.
Before the fall of Kabul, the only concern of the people was education, but
now, due to the low level of hope, this concern no longer makes sense, and the
people are all thinking of fleeing the country, so that thousands of people try
to escape every day and to get out of the country.
The slogans of bread, work, freedom play a prominent role in the
social change of the people. If people flee, it is definitely because of the
lack of these three prominent issues that they have to flee the country in its
absence. If there is no bread, work, freedom or education. It is not life and
it threatens to survive terribly.
People believe that now, due to the pressures of the international
community, the Taliban does not put much pressure on the people, while the
situation is deplorable and has made it very difficult to breathe. If this
group is recognized by the international community for its extremist policies,
then human rights will lose their meaning. Girls' education will be completely
abolished, forced marriages, the sale of women will become more common, and
women will become sex slaves.
The areas under Taliban rule for the past 20 years are a prime
example of the group's policies across the country, which, once recognized,
will be implemented across the country. Bread, work, freedom for women will
completely give way to religious extremism, and enjoining what is good and
forbidding, what is evil will determine the fate of the people, what is
currently running in most areas.
Finally, bread, work may be provided in the geography of
Afghanistan, under the rule of this religious extremist, mono-ethnic and
mono-gender minority group. But there will certainly be no more freedom.
Because the existence of this group is against freedom and will deprive people
of any freedom. Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states
that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Rationality
and conscience have been bestowed on them and they need to treat each other
fairly
Freedom means having full rights in life, which includes the right
to think and reason. The right to thought is the most important principle of
freedom. In the absence of these two rights, freedom has no meaning and human
rights do not find their true meaning. In the current situation, Afghans may
have access to bread and work, but not freedom. Freedom is meaningless if
people are deprived of their right to think. The right to freedom of the people
must be the responsibility of the government and society and must never be
violated by the government and the rulers.
Unfortunately, in the current situation, there is no psychological security and no life, people are afraid of the arbitrary punishment of the Taliban and are forced to lead a secret life in different parts of the country. In public places, people are questioned for no reason and can not travel from one area to another in peace. Under the pretext of collecting weapons, they enter people's homes and, through house-to-house efforts, destroy people's night security. There is no bread, no work, no freedom in Afghanistan, and the international community must engage with this group, given this situation.
